Trump, at CPAC, once again teases 2024; Cruz says Trump ‘gets to decide first’

ORLANDO, Fla. – Other than former President Donald Trump’s address on Saturday evening, Sunday’s results of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) straw poll are the most anticipated moment at this weekend’s gathering in Florida.

Voting among registered attendees has been underway since Thursday among the thousands of people taking part at the confab in Orlando, which is the oldest and largest gathering of conservative leaders and activists.

"CPAC is a good barometer of the most active grassroots of the party," veteran Republican pollster and political consultant Frank Luntz told Fox News. "I expect Trump to win the straw poll big, mirroring his front-runner position right now."

While there is little drama over whether Trump will once again top the ballot, there is plenty of anticipation over how much of a winning margin he secures and the percentage of support likely second place finisher Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida receives.

Thirteen months removed from the White House, Trump remains by far the most popular and influential politician in the GOP, as he continues to play a kingmaker’s role in the 2022 Republican Party primaries.

During his marathon speech Saturday night that went for over an hour in the jam-packed ballroom, the former president once again teased another White House run in 2024, repeating his pledge that the GOP would recapture the presidency.

"They're going to find out the hard way starting Nov. 8 and even more so starting November 2024," Trump predicted of the Democrats' chances in the next two elections.

And he charged that "we're going to kick the Biden crime family out of the White House in 2024."

This author knows nothing about politics and certainly nothing about Conservatives. Frank Luntz hasn't gotten anything right in years and his famous "audience" have always been phony.

McCarthy lives with Luntz, so he has Republican’s ears.

I had already decided that I would never vote for Cruz because Cubans born in Canada are not naturally Americans.
That terrorist remark cemented it.

Oh come on.... Trump is in... he looks leaner and meaner in a non vegan way, the real prize is GOP VP slot. To get that I think it means bringing 500M of fundraising trump cannot shake loose.....Cruz, Rubio, Youngkin, DeSantis, Walker(long shot), Noem. 2028 is not that far away....there is a successor needed.

Dont need to change electorial map in FL or TX.... Youngkin, Walker would flip those 2 state, even if it was just crossovers to get rid of Youngkin as VA GOV. There is alot of VA corruption piggy being butchered.

If there was a strong republican in MI or PA but those states have killed off their young GOP rising stars with state house wars. There is so little to change there is no point in chasing AZ or OH or GA because they already are GOP strong with Any Dem/Any Dem vs Trump/Any GOP.

There just isnt a mature but not ancient pairing for Harris, think she will go with a squad like VP. With the current conflict it blocks biden from quietly saying he is sitting out 2024 and get the pices moving in July of 2022. I strangly think there is a large international Sumit happening in Iceland in June of 22 of the Malta variety.

We got to work on the GOP bench for 2024. There are deserving candidates for national office doing great work outside of the Swamp. We are needing to spend some time looking for No senators and no lawyers that can communicate as in a way to be heard by those under 40. We have a ton of people who have seen full idiot on display that need to be introduced to Conservatism. .

Cruz and Rubio are not natural born citizens.

Just because Democrats have no problem violating the Constitution does not mean Republicans should.

“Cruz and Rubio are not natural born citizens.”

Neither are they natural born politicians! The last go round made that abundantly clear.

I think that it’s the other way around. Luntz feeds his BS to McCarthy who believes that it is true. They deserve one another.

I’ll never vote for Cruz because he’s an ABSOLUTE IDIOT, for thinking he could just jet off to Cancun from the biggest airport in Houston and not be noticed, while people were freezing to death in Texas (if he just stayed home, or even rode it out in DC, he would have been fine...but that required to a brain).
