Cargo plane Anotov AN-225 Mriya was destroyed, according to Ukraine's minister of foreign affairs. A defense reporter for the Kyiv Independent made similar comments on Sunday. US-funded media Radio Liberty posted a picture purporting to show the plane in flames. The world's largest cargo aircraft, the An-225 Mriya, has been destroyed during a Russian attack, according to Ukraine's minister of foreign affairs, Dmytro Kuleba.
Kuleba tweeted on Sunday: "Russia may have destroyed our 'Mriya'. But they will never be able to destroy our dream of a strong, free and democratic European state."

War has consequences.
Idiom
If true, I suppose Putin’s aides are drawing straws as to who will be the goat who informs Putin.
I’ve seen this aircraft in person. It’s a monster— and I worked around C-5A’s my whole Air Force career.
I need to see pictures.
I smell propaganda
Well if they missed it they need glasses
6 engines 32 wheels.
Were you out of Dover AFB?
Possible. But if true good for Ukraine.
I remember walking through a C-5A when they were pretty new at a big aviation event at Dulles Airport. Very impressive.
Can somebody clarify id this aircraft belonged to the Russians or the Ukrainians? The article is poorly written and my take is this was a Ukrainian asset?
From Wikipedia:
Antonov Airlines is a Ukrainian cargo airline, a division of the Antonov aviation company. It operates international charter services in the oversized-cargo market. Its main base is Hostomel Airport near Kyiv.[1] Until its destruction, the company owned the only completed Antonov An-225 Mriya, the world’s largest operational cargo aircraft.

It is terrible news. That aircraft was the only one that could handle certain jobs. It’s no good for war use but the company owning it was STUPID for not temporarily parking it outside of Ukraine.
This is believable and only an hour old:
This was livestreamed a while ago. He is in Kiev, recently arrived from Kharkiv.
Ignore his opinions but listen to what he says about his first hand conversations with colleagues and friends and his own observations.
