I am saying the US dangled it in front of them. Told them, hinted, suggested, convinced Ukraine they could join, that the US would back it up.
The US has been doing this for a dozen years. Except for the Trump years. Started under Obama, Rice, Nulland, those idiots. Paused under Trump. Resumed under Biden by same idiots.
Ukraine believed it and started acting like it.
We (the US, those clowns stated) even overthrew their elected government in 2014 to put an anti Russia guy in. Go read up, fer crying out loud.

Putin told Biden to his face if they didn’t back away from pushing Ukraine to join the West (EU, NATO, energy, etc.) he would invade the 2 historically Russian territories.
And he did.
Putins is behaving rationally.
Read up, just not the bs propaganda funded by Ukraine. Yes, funded by Ukraine, the most corrupt country in the Baltics.
It doesn’t stop me from feeling horrible for the civilians, and hoping that they individually fight back and win their skirmishes, and aren’t just slaughtered. I’m not sure the Russians are big on prisoner-taking.
If I was put into that position, unwittingly by whatever governments, I’d fight to my third to last bullet. (Sadly, I have to save a few)
