I don’t care, since I don’t use cheap Russian ammo. Real ammo has a brass case.

I think AK’s like
Steel cased.
Not so critical for an AK. Lacquered steel is fine there. The wedge shape of the chamber makes it extract easily, and the AK extractor is harder than the steel casing so it doesn’t wear. You can use steel for decade in an AK since it was designed for it. Not reloadable.
The problem comes when you use it in a 9mm pistol or nearly straight rifle case like an AR or M1 Carbine. They can stick in a chamber and horrifyingly rip the casehead off and you are seriously not clearing that. You can destroy the softer extractors too.
AK steel is fine, but never ever in our rifles. Just not worth it.
That's kind of like saying "Real ammo doesn't have 'millimeter' in the name"...
