4. Global militaristic aspirations - check

One book that seems to have fallen out of popularity was Shires book on the fall of the III Reich.

I am not sure if I read it in the Shirer book or in subsequent readings but one of Hitler’s big mistakes was when the German Army was marching through the Ukraine (who hated the Soviets), they started stringing up innocent ukrainians with piano wire.

It has been suggested that had the Nazis shown the ukrainians that they were actually brothers in arms against the Soviets, that the ukrainians would have put on the wehrmacht uniforms and marched into the CCCP with the Nazis.

I agree. If Hitler had done to Ukraine what he did to Slovakia, I think Ukrainians would have preferred being Nazi puppet state with some autonomy over being under Stalin.

This article sheds some light on comments made by a Ukrainian Orthodox priest to a visitor from the UK in 2017 or 2018. (The UK visitor was himself an Orthodox priest who was visiting some monasteries on the Greek peninsula know as Mt. Athos. He wrote a book about his trip, which is where I saw these comments.)

The Ukrainian priest said he feared for his life, that Christians were being murdered in the Ukraine, and that this was the work of "fascists" who had been installed with the support of the CIA.
