Oh, I agree with that point as well. However, I have heard or read it stated from multiple “Putin watchers” - those who know his history, temperment and ambitions far better than we keyboard junkies - that Vladimere Putin has held for most of his life a “grand design” to reestablish the “old empire.”
If true, I could see his recent change in behavior being due to Xi’s influence.
