Secretary of State Antony Blinken said it is obvious Russian President Vladimir Putin has goals beyond Ukraine and may have other countries in his sights.
"When President Biden addressed the nation today, he said that Putin wants a new Soviet Union. Is there intelligence to suggest that President Putin will advance beyond Ukraine?" "CBS Evening News" anchor and managing editor Norah O'Donnell asked Blinken in an interview on Thursday.
"You don't need intelligence to tell you that that's exactly what President Putin wants," the top U.S. diplomat said. "He's made clear that he'd like to reconstitute the Soviet empire. Short of that, he'd like to reassert a sphere of influence around neighboring countries that were once part of the Soviet bloc. And short of that, he'd like to make sure that all of these countries are somehow neutral."

This is actually a no lose prediction by Blinken. If Putin does move on another nation, (unlikely in my guesstimation), Blinken looks like a sage. If Putin stops with Ukraine, Blinken can claim it was the administration that kept Putin bottled up.

He doesn’t want any NATO countries sharing borders with Russia. Unfortunately, the Baltic Republics are already members of NATO. They don’t have the ability to threaten Russia, but it must gall him. He will want to separate them from NATO. Ukraine’s fate may ‘encourage’ their re-alignment.

Well, Biden’s fake sanctions aren’t going to discourage Putin.
The U.S. is still buying oil and gas from Russia at this very minute and sending the money straight to Moscow. Due to Biden we’ve sacrificed energy independence and are dependent on Russia (and OPEC) for our oil and gas. The Russian are laughing at the ‘sanctions’.
How about a NATO-like alliance between those that border Russia?
