I have heard that the Senate Debate was night and day compared with what was going on in the Commons.

I watched it the other night for several hours until it was done for the night and frankly, it seemed to be more of the same.... the points the Conservatives were making were generally solid while all the rest were to the left of lunatic fringe. That’s not to say the votes were there.... that’s another story and I’m not sure how it would have turned out.
Having said that, I suspect that the pressure for this is coming from another angle and if I had to guess, I think it is coming from the banks. I think that people’s confidence was shattered and things were already on the move for a run or at least a mini-run and they figured they needed to do something before running the risk that this would go totally out of their control. This almost seems like it has an international angle to it as well.
