Excellent article. Most Americans only see the MSM propaganda, it's important to understand the Russian POV.
The Communist USSR died in 1991, but the anti-USSR NATO did not die with it. Instead, NATO has moved right to Russia's borders.
I totally understand why the countries that suffered under Soviet Communist oppression would want to join NATO, modern Russia also has valid security concerns that cannot be dismissed or ignored.

In response to NATO expansion, Russia has annexed historically Russian Crimea, and ethnically Russian parts of Ukraine and Georgia Educate yourself. South Ossetia, carved out of Georgia, by the Russians has their own ethnicity: Ossetian. The area is not "ethnicly Russian" its Ossetian, then Georgian and lastly Russian.
