I don’t believe any of that actually matters to Trudeau at this point. He will not allow his power to be removed. It’s for the security of the nation, dontcha know? Votes against him are a direct threat to the safety of the Canadian people. And any who do so will find themselves in a very precarious predicament.
The Canadian senate will have to vote they have been summoned. 42 are independent senators but a good number of them are Tboys appointments or his dad’s while their jobs are safe basically for life their party mates in the lower house will ve wiped out in the coming election if they loose the liberal bloc. It’s a given that the Senate rubber stamps the motion. He already threatened to disband the government which in parliamentary systems means an immediate debate and vote for confidence, the vote in the lower house was seen by most as a call for a vote for confidence but the lower speaker when directly pressed to make it an official vote for confidence simply ignored the request and out up the vote on the EA. Parliamentary systems are so much different than the US system people here have a hard time understanding the nuances of it.
Looks like the Canadian Senate is starting debate today on the EA as required by their charter. They could go all day and night but the vote must happen once the debate is started it is the only way to end the debate. The question is will enough of the 42 say aye, the 16 CPC are nays for sure.
