Same here. I will never trust the government. Not that I previously had much trust in them, but now it is gone. Ditto "medical professionals." I've seen too many, and come across several personally, who have completely abandoned their principles and good medicine in service of a political agenda.

Loss of faith in these and other institutions is bad enough. Worse is that I cannot foresee any way for them to restore my trust in them in my lifetime. I've probably got another 20 years give or take. Even if these fools cleaned up their act tomorrow, it would take years of good behavior before I might begin to trust them again - right about the time I'll be checking out. So they are dead to me.

I know I am not alone in this outlook. I believe there are certain entities out there that similarly realize they have forever lost a fair percentage of us - and they don't care. They are "going for it" and are going to try to do the things they really want to do rather than play nice. There is a better than even chance the gloves are going to come off in my lifetime.
