FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — Franklin Circuit Court Judge Thomas D. Wingate has denied a motion to temporarily block Kentucky's redistricting maps. Wingate also denied a motion from Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams to have the case dismissed.

...

In the lawsuit, Democrats claim both new maps involve partisan gerrymandering, which violates the state constitution. The suit also challenges the "excessively and unnecessarily splitting counties."

...

Governor Andy Beshear initially vetoed the Republicans' redistricting plans, but the GOP used their legislative power to override the veto.

This is so rich hearing this from them - after a century of partisan gerrymandering on their part.

It’s funny how they can use gerrymandering and “traditionally black neighborhoods” in the same story.

Gerrymandering is how democrats create black electoral plantations where the house negroes and foremen can make sure the votes go for the democrat owners. There were Italian and Irish precincts in cities too. Round ‘em up and the political bosses get voted in again. It’s politics, what ya gonna do?

It’s also funny that the Democrats want to destroy the suburbs by building housing projects in the middle of them in one breath, then in the next they hold other kinds of neighborhoods as sacred ones which must be preserved in perpetuity.

As always it’s all about power with them, and they don’t have much of it in Kentucky. For good reason. So they play the only card they have, the race card. Good luck with that.

“...traditionally black neighborhoods...”

So I guess it’s okay to have “traditionally white neighborhoods” too.

They also have, in Kentucky as in every other state (even supposedly good “red” ones) the Corrupt Democrat Black-Robed Tyrant Card, or failing that the Corrupt RINO Black-Robed Tyrant Card. Those seem to be the only types who ever get to rule on redistricting cases, although we did get one win this year (whoopee!) when the Supreme Court smacked down some Alabama racist Democrats. That doesn’t happen very often at all, however.

Wonder what the new maps do to CD3 and CD6???

I'd be shocked if they do anything to CD3. Battle would likely be over CD6, with Conservatives trying to make it more red and rats & rinos resisting such attempts.

This demonstrates the importance of gaining the majority in state legislatures.

The Republicans have the majority in both houses of the state legislature. The Democrats took the redistricting to court in NC and got it thrown out, not once but twice. The Republicans just finished the third redistricting plan and turned it over to the court. We are waiting to see what happens next. Having a Republican majority in a state government doesn’t mean squat any more.
