And I will have another memory of a person burning to death etched into my brain.

Fortunately, the burned bodies that I found during my career were burned so badly that they didn't even look like human remains. There are no lasting psych issues etched in my brain worse than what I have seen in movies. Fortunately, everyone got out of the EV fires that have occurred in our jurisdiction before my coworkers arrived.

I will never voluntarily purchase an EV. They’re for Green fools.

“Do you really want to park a car that is too dangerous to ship with its battery installed... in your garage charging while you sleep?”

We had an electrician at our house last week to replace a light fixture and install a new outlet. He finished the work early, and we started talking about EVs. He said that his company installs several power walls each week inside garages, but he wouldn’t put one in his own house. And he doesn’t recommend installing them in a garage that is underneath a bedroom.

“Those five star safety rated cars have magnesium supports behind the dash, If you wreck one and you can’t get out, breathe deeply so you die faster and don’t suffer long.”

Magnesium alloy. Less than 1% magnesium.

Don’t know about EVs, but Porsche Panameras and highest end 911s have quite a bit of magnesium.

“Don’t know about EVs, but Porsche Panameras and highest end 911s have quite a bit of magnesium.”

Used in VW beetles for decades.

The ignition resistance of pure Mg, AZ91 and WE43 alloys is investigated. For pure Mg, ignition occurs in the solid state whereas it requires the presence of liquid in the AZ91 alloy. The WE43 alloy is ignition-proof. The ignition resistance is attributed to the role of yttrium in the oxidation process.

Never mind I found it.

Dozens killed in Mexico road accident as truck carrying more than 100 migrants crashes.

https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2013/05/07/181933053/gas-tanker-explosion-kills-at-least-20-near-mexico-city

Interesting that you had to find a link to an event that occurred in a third world country to make your point. In Mexico motor vehicle accidents often seem to result in a spectacular number of fatalities.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/12/09/americas/mexico-road-accident-intl-hnk/index.html

So how many people are killed in the USA in tanker truck mishaps? They do happen... we received training on how to respond. But they are heavily regulated as compared to other types of trucks.

“It is typically not a good idea to get this windbag started.”

I like the windbags. They typically are professionals with passion with lots to learn from them.

I’m a EE, and I have been bitten by electrons enough to have absolute respect for them. I can only imagine an EV crash where the rescue personnel have no idea if the cage is hot or not.
