You’re right; while it is fading into history, it should always be remembered that the primary reason for this was to allow the fraud that would remove him from office - and it worked. At the same time, the power enjoyed by the Bolshevik commissars proved addictive and they won’t give it up - and the pseudo-economy that sprang up based on mass testing and administering experimental shots has proven lucrative for not just big firms but a lot of people employed doing it. I went to a testing facility and it was run (shoddily) by people I couldn’t imagine being employed in any serious endeavor (opening late, lack of organization - at an appointment-only operation).
