Usually, we live our daily lives not having to make immobilizing decisions that sever aspects of who we are in any fundamental way. Typically, we wake up, have something to eat, go to work, handle occupational challenges presented to us and eventually allow some leisure time. But a demand to choose between two or more features that relate to a healthy, fully functioning sense of self is not usually something we come across.
Since the Left is well known for avoiding debate, well-established data, and reasoned argument, it comes as no surprise that the weapon of force is one of its primary tools to supplant the individual sovereignty of free-minded people. And with the opportunity for extended power that COVID has presented, a number of tyrannical leftists have forced a choice upon workers: get vaxxed or get axed. You will either get injected with an untested gene-therapy drug (they call a vaccine), or you’re fired! For the leftist, coercion is the ticket.
Like Zofia Zowistowski’s diabolical choice presented to her upon arrival in Auschwitz in the movie Sophie’s Choice, to choose one of her two children to either live or die, workers have had to choose to either go against their own body autonomy/cost-benefit analysis and their livelihood, the benefits of which financially supports that body, as well as the nurtured well-being of one’s entire family. It’s not exactly Sophie’s choice, but it is no less diabolical as it forces a decision that splits the self, figuratively speaking.
This week, in the spirit of former NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, newly elected Mayor Eric Adams fired more than 1,400 government workers who chose not to be vaccinated. The axed workers included 914 Department of Education workers along with 36 NY Police personnel and 25 Fire Department workers.

I think that's the most disturbing thing about the last 2 years. People that I've known for decades, that talked a great game about personal freedom and integrity buckled like wet paper bags when presented with the choice of taking the shot or standing by their stated convictions and facing the consequences. None of them for medical reasons, either. To make it worse, some then tried to cajole me in to taking it. One literally told me to "play the game" and do it. Some of this even happened after I had completely uprooted my life by quitting my job, selling my house and moving someplace where shot mandates and ultimatums are not an issue. All to maintain my freedom and integrity. I honestly feel betrayed by some of the people that I used to consider trusted friends and allies. Now, they are just acquaintances. I guess it's better to have learned this now rather than sometime in the future when my family's safety and well being is on the line.
Subverted integrity...
And a Florida ME’s office...? 🤔
I have noticed the same thing, although no one has then tried to talk me into getting it myself... that’s pretty weird.
The people I have observed were not in a position to lose their jobs, for various reasons.
Threat of job loss is an effective way to apply force in “free” countries. It has been used for decades to shape though and social compliance with all manner of destructive policy and values (wokeism). And now they just used the same mechanism to inject people with untested crap. Next, I think they will use it for political purges. If we let them.
I am scheduled to be fired in March because I refuse to take the shot. My first job interview is this week.
Some of us stand by our convictions. Some don't have actual convictions at all.
Mask mandates are still in effect where I work.
I detest, detest, detest them.
Man, I’m sorry to hear that. Good luck, and hopefully it goes well.
They had to back down on us for now.
They currently won’t let me in the building, so I have to work from home XD XD XD. I suspect they’re pissed off at me beyond measure. So I’ll probably have to go of my own accord anyway - that’s not a healthy work environment.
The wife and I took a 60% pay cut when we stood on our principles. I associate with people that took bigger ones, all the way to 100%. Through the grace of God, it had been in our hearts to prepare for just such circumstances for a very long time. We are not preppers; by all definitions what we did was "bugging out", though. Foresight allowed us to move on the issue before things got to the point that we had no choice but to cave. Not tooting our horn, just making the case that it can be done.
At some point a line has to be drawn. Apparently, the loss of personal freedoms and sovereignty over one's body is not that point for a lot of people. And let's be honest, for many people (a majority from personal observation) that complain that they were "forced to", or "had to" take the poke, it was more about losing creature comforts and a "normal" life than anything else. Well folks, this ain't normal. It hasn't been since this all started When the time comes that my family's well being and freedoms depend on these people making a choice between their comfort and freedom, I know which one they will pick. They have already shown their hand. I will plan accordingly, just like I have before.
Good luck, we'll say a prayer for you and yours. Hold fast.
Yep, I concur with all you have said. I’m sorry to hear about the haircut.
From some of the data I have seen in my industry the numbers look to be around 5% that said no way. This is a depressingly low number. Then again, I understand that just around 3% went out and won our independence. So I think we’re in good company!
