HELSINKI (AP) – Norway says it is lifting almost all remaining COVID restrictions as it doesn´t see a major health threat to citizens any more, even though the omicron variant is still spreading in the Nordic nation.

“This is the day we have been waiting for,” said Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere during a news conference in Oslo on Saturday. “We are removing almost all coronavirus measures.”

I missed out on a trip to Tahiti. Their restrictions are down right stupid.

I agree good for them

Here is something I have thought about today. For the last two years when numbers have started to crash there was the next variant on the horizon. Currently there is no murmuring about the next variant. Delta was very real. Omicron was as well. It seems that there is nothing on the horizon because omicron has created world wide herd immunity and ushered in the endemic phase

I thought it would end by March 1 with omicron emergence
It appears this is accurate and the only question is what will occur with the government.

--- "...For the last two years when numbers have started to crash...."

For the last two years, the numbers were always "crashed." Gathering up the official data from the official sources....

worldometers.info

As of 4 February 2022, according to worldometers' "official" data,

( 5,733,072 "worldometers official" global deaths / 7,923,543,454 global population ) x 100 = 0.072 % mortality rate worldwide.

Less than one tenth of one percent "officially" Covid dead over two years worldwide, says worldometers' data.

One can choose other "denominators" like CFR and other "estimated" data and models, but the "officially official" data says the Covid-19 pandemic was survived by a mere 99+ percent of the world's population. Highly survivable so the "numbers" haven't "started to crash."

I have a question: Why “almost all” restrictions? Why not ALL???

You are analyzing with a lot of maybes conjectures and an invalid denominator by making that N the entire world population. Of the known cases, it is a valid statement that the numbers are crashing.

---- "a lot of maybes conjectures and an invalid denominator by making that N the entire world population."

An interesting assertion, but an assertion nonetheless.

The "lot of maybes conjectures" come directly and without translation from any of the "official" sources, as they all generally agree as to "worldwide dead from Covid" and "world population."

These are not "a lot of maybes conjectures."

You then assert "...an invalid denominator by making that N the entire world population...."

That is demonstrably incorrect. Below are three sources for the definition of "mortality rate" -- sometimes known a "death rate" -- showing that your "invalid denominator" assertion is false.

A citation with source -- one among many available --

"Mortality rate or death rate is a measure of the frequency of occurrence of death in a defined population during a specified interval." Formula to calculate mortality rate.[ Graphic of simple equation at the site, URL referenced below. ] To calculate a death rate the number of deaths recorded is divided by the number of people in the population, and then multiplied by 100, 1,000 or another convenient figure.

https://www.learntocalculate.com/calculate-mortality-rate/

Another resource for you ---

"mortality rate" -- noun -- The number of deaths per given unit of population over a given period of time. -- the ratio of deaths in an area to the population of that area; expressed per 1000 per year....

https://www.wordnik.com/words/mortality%20rate

And another resource for you ---

"Definition of mortality rate: the ratio between deaths and individuals in a specified population and during a particular time period : the incidence of deaths in a given population during a defined time period (such as one year) that is typically expressed per 1000 or 100,000 individuals : DEATH RATE

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/mortality%20rate

Your assertion of "an invalid denominator by making that N the entire world population" is balderdash.

If the deaths are "global" as JHU and others state, the N is the population of that "globe."

I use the CORRECT updated numbers, global deaths and global population [ sources and with "work showing" ], and the result may be expressed as a simple percentage, or as "deaths per million" -- both telling the same arithmetic conclusion.

Global deaths divided by global population, and expressed as a percent. Mortality rate. Death rate.

Your slur of the various official sources as "a lot of maybes conjectures" is unnecessary. Your understanding of "mortality rate" or "death rate" is invalid.

Or you can provide sourced references which define "mortality rate" as other than above.
