a new fund to support Ukraine and locally-based initiatives by diaspora organizations.
The Community Development and Advocacy Fund will provide co-financing for a range of projects, including those that support local diaspora community development and youth development, promote an accurate understanding of Ukraine and its people, and inform about Ukraine’s history, culture, and current geopolitical standing.
Money is also available for organized efforts to foster female leadership and promote Ukrainian schooling.

I understand their reputation, but their new leader doesn’t strike me to be the same sort of goon as the prior one. (Ukraine’s I mean.) Ukraine has so much potential but its awkward “not in Europe/EU” “hostile with mean bully big brother Russia” geopolitical placement really keeps them from finding their own way.
With or without Russia....Ukraine can’t and doesn’t want to manage their country themselves...so it will never be more than what it is....a huge washing machine for funds.
I lived in Russia, and if we’re going to call out Ukraine we also need to call out Russia. Where quite a few of our (and European) elites have vested interests too regardless if their rhetoric suggests otherwise.
As one article put it, "kleptocratic money laundering."
Also removing the governments out of the discussion — as a people. The populace in Ukraine I find to be far more reasonable and less post-Soviet hypnosis. The USSR fall hit them hard, but did not hurt their pride the way it did Russians, because they weren’t the leader the way Russia was. And while Ukrainians are willing to have a working/friendly tie with Russia. Russians don’t have a concept of “friendly” only “WE MUST BE YOUR BOSS OR ELSE.”
Putin’s antics are totally enabled by the daze/haze average Russians continue to be in since the fall of the USSR. Hence whey he’ll just remain in power indefinitely and their own society stagnates...with just enough oil wealth trickling into the population to keep things afloat..there are still lots of run down parts other than Moscow/St. P.
Two different countries.....one has leadership to improve the country. The other just screams and bellyaches about why it doesn’t.....year after year...decade after decade.
Russian population should be way way way way way richer overall than they are now. But the wealth is in the hands of a handful of oligarch cronies. Sure things are OK-enough to keep a revolution from happening...
But a vibrant middle class? Russia’s population is NOT.
Russia’s birth rate remains tragically low for a reason.
You really hate Ukraine.
Putin is putting Russia back into darkness.
