Actor Seth Rogen has said the quiet part out loud and confessed the truth about self-important Hollywood award shows, like the Oscars: America doesn’t seem to care about them anymore.
Speaking with Insider about his upcoming Super Bowl commercial, the Knocked Up star said he does not understand why movie insiders and stars would think the general public cares about awards shows come Oscars season.
“I don’t get why movie people care so much if other people care what awards we give ourselves,” Seth Rogen said.
“To me, maybe people just don’t care,” he added. “I don’t care who wins the automobile awards. No other industry expects everyone to care about what awards they shower upon themselves. Maybe people just don’t care. Maybe they did for a while and they stopped caring. And why should they?”
Hollywood award shows have gone from fun showcases of talented actors with real star power to network televised lectures, in which the most privileged and pompous people on the planet talk down to and insult the citizens of real America who helped make them rich.

You got me beat.
My last time was 2010 to see The Three Stooges.
They should just call them the ‘Pontificating Poo-Poo head awards’.
I used to love them. Had wonderful snacks & it was a huge deal. I haven’t watched in at least 5 years. If you had told me that the Oscars would die out I would have laughed.
They’re done.
We don’t give a damn about the awards especially when we know that the awards have nothing to do with the quality of the movies or the acting, but are more related to the virtue signaling of the story, and even worse since last year, the minimum required # of POC’s in a movie; something that does not add value to a movie, and may actually reduce it in certain cases.
Used to be somewhat fun. Now it’s boring and waste of time.
How about instead of Marlon Brandon accepting an award in 1973, a Indian woman arrived and lectured the crowd about why Marlon didn’t accept the award and walked off.
He would have loved the Commanders and Guardians.
Movies were about sharing a viewpoint on common interests.. nowadays there is no common interest. No one goes to movies to relate to the events on film. It is a dead form of communication and entertainment. Don’t need to watch a characterization of an event. We can watch the event real time.
Nailed it…

Passion of The Christ for me
hollywood needs a great reset so they can build back better
Severe narcissism runs rampant in that world.
It used to be that the Oscars were entertaining. Movie clips, songs, pretty girls in slinky dresses.
They forgot that what we want is entertainment.
I like what Bill Maher said in the article:
“Academy nominations used to say, ‘What great movies we make. Now they say, ‘Look what good people we are.’”
Didn’t George C Scott blow off the awards because he thought they were crap too? Seem to remember something like that.
Hear, hear. I went cold turkey on all things Hollywood 13 years ago.

And of course, he’s from Castreau-Land.
