Australia's floods of 2010-11 spread devastation and damage across Queensland, with 33 people losing their lives and causing billions in losses across the state. The floods also damaged 19,000km of roads, including those needed for emergency and delivery vehicles.
It was a stark lesson in the importance of weather-proofing Queensland's most vulnerable roads, to ensure that future flooding would lead to fewer people being cut off.
From landslide-blocked roads in Nepal, washed-out coastal highways in the US, collapsed bridges in Kenya to melting ice roads in Canada - an increasingly volatile global climate is threatening to disrupt essential transport networks.

There have not been any more "extreme" weather events than there have been in the past.
Roads require maintenance. Always have, and will for the foreseeable future.

The reason for the road destruction was they built them in THE WRONG PLACES!
Roads built in flood plains are only TEMPORARY roads.
Globull warming had nothing to do with it.

The flood of media headlines must be caused by white supremacist-caused global warming of the transpjobic Covid virus creating racist wealth inequality in carbon credits which means "send more money -- capital -- to the anti-capitalist bureaucrats at the UN."
They sure are ramping up climate emergency rhetoric now. Ice age didn’t work. Acid rain didn’t work. Ozone hole didn’t work. Global warming didn’t work. Climate change didn’t work. Maybe climate emergency will work.
When the sun hits my aluminum storm door, it becomes too hot to even touch the handle sometimes. What can the global warmists do about that?
Passing through Crescent City in Northern California one is reminded how vulnerable roads are to landslides and there’s not much protection from them.

Hmm last I heard, it was water seeping into cracks and freezing that generally ruined roads... but, what do I know...
