On February 2, 2022, the Georgia Senate Committee on the Judiciary voted 6-3 to pass SB 319, the Georgia Constitutional Carry Act. SB 319 now goes to the full Senate for a vote. 31 of 56 Georgia State Senators have signed on as sponsors of the bill. It seems likely the full Senate will vote in favor of the measure.
There is a similar measure in the Georgia House; HB2. The Bill was filed last year but was not acted on. A committee vote has not been taken on the House bill, either last year or this year. HB 2 currently shows six sponsors in the House. The Georgia House has 180 members.
Both Governor Kemp and primary challenger David Purdue say they are in favor of Constitutional Carry. Governor Kemp has been the subject of intense criticism for his actions during the Presidential election in 2020. It is difficult to say how emerging evidence of extensive ballot harvesting during the 2020 election in Georgia may influence that race.
In 2020, Chief Justice Melton of The Supreme Court of Georgia issued a Statewide Judicial Emergency. The Council of Probate Judges labeled Georgia’s Weapons Carry Licenses as a non-essential service. Four lawsuits were filed to force the issuance of licenses or for Constitutional Carry. None prevailed, in part because probate judges started to issue licenses again. This judicial shutting down of carry license applications provides proponents of Constitutional Carry additional fuel for Constitutional Carry. It showed how little respect the right to carry has in Georgia courts.

Georgia is the new HollyWeird, dontcha know.
David Ralston, speaker of the GA house has been holding that CC bill in committee. He’s the hold up.
And Ralston and his sycophants did exactly that.
Georgia already has great gun laws, if you’re a gun person.
Only reason this is on the table is that it’s an attempt to save Kemp. He could have done this on Day One.
He even made, perhaps, one of the most ridiculous campaign commercials EVA, about guns. Hard to say which one was worse, the gun one with the kid that looked like he was gonna poo his pants or the one with that old Ford and rounding up ‘criminal’ illegal aliens(aren’t they all criminals). Something else he did nothing about.
GA GOP is worse than useless. I have zero respect for any of them.
Only because we let Kemp and the rest allow it.
Put a referendum on the ballot taking away the $800,000,000 a year tax break the industry gets and allow its workers to unionize and let’s see how fast Hollywood lacks up their sh*t.
The only folks that like it are the ones that moved here with the work and the liberal hipsters.
Nahhhh…..those vermin don’t venture too far out of the city. Things get much different on the law and order side around here, when you get out of the cities.
Georgia is gun country. And they know if.
They cops actually had a PSA for folks that don’t live in Fulton Cty/Atl, that drive oickups, and have certain “stickers” on their vehicles……Please leave your guns at home. Those vehicles were targeted on a regular basis.
Peanut and Pookie aren’t that dumb, afterall
Need some type of ‘thumbs up’ option on here.
True words
Stacy Abrams is a RINO? Who knew?
I know I've told this story here before, but when I took driver's ed way back when, the instructor told me as I was driving, "drive politely, this is Georgia. Assume every car has a gun in it."
ANd of course there is that line from the Richard Jewell movie.
Never saw the movie, but....the other stuff is spot on. Especially when you get away from Atlanta and the City of Decatur. Common denominator with those two places and it isn’t skin color.
In the movie, when the FBI is going to search the apartment that Jewell shared with his Mom, his lawyer told him to lay out all his guns in open view. He had a nice beginner collection laid out on his bed, but his lawyer was alittle surprised by it, and asked “Are these all YOUR guns??” And Jewell replied, “Well, this IS Georgia.”
That’s awesome.
