Lightfoot claimed that the increase in carjackings was largely due to juveniles, whom the mayor said had created an atmosphere of “pervasive fear” among the city’s residents. Lightfoot then drew a direct correlation between the uptick in carjackings and youths who weren’t taking remote learning very seriously.

The kids who have no interest in remote learning are the exact same ones who would be truant when regular school was in session.

Carjacking is up because enforcement of the law is down. Kid A hears that kid B stole a car, and got released in an hour. So kid A decides to give it a try too.

Root cause of all these is that American politics go by morality, not by merits. Due to slavery history, whites lost moral superiority to blacks. American politics go with it to elect blacks, regardless of merits. Unfortunately, the nature of public office still requires officials to execute duties, which requires merits they don’t have.
