Liz Truss has defended the Falklands as “part of the British family” after China backed Argentina’s claim over the South American islands.

The Foreign Secretary tweeted that “China must respect the Falklands’ sovereignty” after Argentinian president, Alberto Fernandez, met with China’s President Xi on the fringes of the Beijing winter Olympics.

According to a statement on London’s Chinese Embassy website, the two leaders spoke of their “deep friendship” and Argentina signed up to China’s Belt and Road infrastructure initiative, a state-backed campaign for global influence.

But they also signed an agreement in which China reasserted its support for Argentina’s claim to the Falklands, while Mr Fernandez backed Xi’s one-China policy, which claims Taiwan as its own.

While somewhat quiet about it, Russia and China have been practicing their strongest joint defense and economic relationship since 2010.

The only other relationship this dynamic in the past century was when Lenin chose and supported Mao (1921), to lead the communist revolution across China, (with the hope Mao would establish commu m.j its governance across all of Eastern Asia.

Later, this was one of the biggest reasons Churchill begged Roosevelt not mmnm to give up Eastern Europe to Moscow in exchange for helping us defeat Japan.

Churchill argued Moscow would reinforce Maoist troops, who had already murdered many millions of Chinese people.

Churchill was also afraid Stalin would use or turn over to Mao - US war machinery (which we supplied enmass, and literally saved Stalin and the USSR).

In the end, Stalin got nearly all of Eastern Europe (instead of splitting it with Hitler), and Mao (in part) used the machinery to violently democide China.

Yah... compromising with evil sure went well, and sure kept the peace. /S

Has Argentina forgotten the last time they made issue over Britain's Falklands?

A brief undeclared war was fought between Argentina and Great Britain in 1982 over who had control of the Falkland Islands.... British soldiers joined a naval task force sent to retake the Falkland Islands after their surprise capture by the Argentine military.
