The Biden administration botches relations with Russia while its experts tell each other flattering fictions
Vladimir Putin doesn’t need to send troops into Ukraine. He has already achieved his strategic goals — for now.
The leading European Union powers, France and Germany, are competing against each other for Putin’s ear, while Britain is competing against them by shipping arms to Ukraine. The United States is exposed as an unreliable protector, unable to defend its overextended position on Russia’s doorstep in Ukraine. NATO is divided and powerless, a shadow of imperial overreach.
A decrepit caste of corrupt leaders is incapable of managing a controlled retreat from imperial overreach. America today, or Russia the day before yesterday? Vladimir Putin witnessed the decay and collapse of the Soviet Union, and the subsequent expansion of NATO up to Russia’s borders. He is now returning the favor. He is pushing American and European influence out of Ukraine, and unpicking the already frayed bonds of NATO and the EU.
Geopolitics is not about morality. It is about the effective use of power. For thirty years, the smart opinion in Washington was that post-Soviet Russia was no threat to anyone because it had an economy the size of Portugal and its economy ran on carbon fuel exports. That these statistics were true shows how well Vladimir Putin has played his limited hand — and how arrogantly the US has mishandled relations with Russia while its experts tell each other flattering fictions.

So what else is new?
One of the causes of the fall of the Soviet Union was their Afghanistan entanglement.
So what did the U.S. go and do?
Weakness invites aggression. And Biden is weak. And everyone knows it.
If Trump were in the WH, none of this would be happening.
Let these warmongers go fight themselves, if they are so keen for war. Russia is not our problem; it’s not even Europe’s problem. Both the US and Europe are being destroyed by a different kind of invasion, one with no shots fired.
The US is drowning in inflation, beset with increasing crime and worsening internal divisions, an enviro-whacko assault on our energy supplies, communism and depravity being taught in schools, and it is being invaded daily via our southern border. That is where US troops should be. Ukraine has no bearing on US interests, and NATO should have been dissolved after the fall of the Soviet Union. Let Europe handle its own problems.
The Democrats are doing that all on their own, they don’t need Putin’s help.
Oh no - he's already here?! Its like "Red Dawn" all over again.
We way outdid them. Not only did we bog ourselves down in Afghanistan, but decided to take on the entire middle east and north africa to boot.
Someone finally gets it. During the Peloponnesian War Athens decided to lay seige to Syracuse [Sicily] as a matter of prestige. They lost their entire fleet way off in that irrelevant place, and consequently it's empire in the Aegean collapsed, and the city fell. It's a lesson no one should forget, but it involved old dead white men whose language is extinct so we ignore it.
Horror vacui.
And $6 Trillion later, what do we have to show for it?
Sun tzu teaches that the supreme strategic achievement is to win without fighting.
He left CHYNA per Ben Harnwell.
NATO should never have went back on its promise to not move “one inch closer” to Eastern Europe but it has, a pledge a Turkish ambassador recently reminded people of.
NATO’s purpose was anti-U.S.S.R, and even though the U.S.S.R folded it kept moving eastward, long before Russia invaded Georgia or Crimea.
The closer NATO gets to Russia’s borders, and the more it does so, especially so with Ukraine, the more tensions increase.
Ukraine should also never have let itself become party to a coup (financed by outside sources) in which an armed mob led by the neo-Nazi Right Sector militia stormed the Ukrainian parliament, forcing legally elected President Viktor Yanukovych and members of his party to flee for their lives, as one puppet was replaced with another.
The U.S. and/or NATO have bases all over, many close to Russia. Where do you think Blinken will get the right to stop Russia? If the US sends troops to the countries on Russia’s periphery, why is it so surprising that Russia is sending their troops to Central America? Would he like Iranian/Russian/Chinese troops in Mexico?
And he now tells Russia to move its troops back further within its own borders. Would he comply to Russia saying this?
The U.S. needs to secure its southern border and let Europe handle this problem.
We have no President, no Commander in Chief. His Fraudulency is just a scripted figurehead reading text at choreographed "press" conferences. Everyone else realizes this.
Foreign policy and the DOD (as far as I can tell) are under the control of Blinken and his fellow morons at State, which explains our consistent policies of preemptive surrender:
a) We just dropped sanctions against Iran's "civilian" nuclear program for nothing.
b) We even asked for Russia's "assistance" at the negotiations after Blinken dropped all of Trump's additional sanctions (again in exchange for nothing).
c) We criticized the Saudis for the war in Yemen, reduced military assistance and took the Iran-sponsored Houthis off the terrorist list. Now Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States are subject to Houthi missile and drone attacks.
d) We gave up Trump's sanctions against Nord Stream II (again, for nothing).
e) We dropped support for the Israeli-Cypriot-Greek gas pipeline to Europe (again, for nothing).
Blinken's policies are 100% America last. In fact, they are so bad I have to ask how many people are getting paid off by the Iranians?
Meanwhile the open borders Communists are in complete control of immigration, and Mayorkas continues to violate the law with impunity despite the electoral pain he is causing Democrats. There is no one supervising Homeland Security.
Bannon's legal inquiries regarding his indictment show that Garland and the FBI are acting as the Stasi wing of Congressional Democrats. Once again, there is no effective control of DOJ by the White House.
Meanwhile we send troops, ships and aircraft to Europe-- does anyone at the White House even know what their missions or ROEs are?
There may be good reasons for not getting involved in Ukraine, but simply repeating Russian propaganda has little to with it.
The US is drowning in many problems but the biggest one IMO is the ongoing collapse of our culture and national ethos. Destroy the culture and you destroy the country.
