There is a bite on the tongue, just before a blizzard condition is about to set in, that is quite distinct. While not strictly a “smell” of snow, it does forecast the conditions of falling temperatures and rising wind that accompany those snow storms.
As to “climate change” affecting the smell of snow, that is pure fantasy, as there is no mechanism to alter the composition of snow either as it is falling, or once it lies on the ground. No combination of carbon dioxide, or even such things as sulfides or organic compounds, exist in such quantity as to be detectable that could be traced to average global temperatures either rising or falling.
