I have another dumb question: Can cars being sold today be disconnected from the internet permanently?
Most likely not.
Everything is moving to a subscription model. Also, many taxing authorities want to tax you based on whatever you do in their areas. A nearby town decided to tax people for the things they sold on eBay and Craigslist. (It caused such a huge problem when they ended the attempt they had to take out a billboard advertising that they’d stopped doing so.) But the point is, if it can be done, it will be done.
Yeah, but there's a monthly fee for that.

If they can give you ‘features’ via Internet download, they can also download ‘issues’ forcing you to take your into the dealer, when the dealers are otherwise not busy.
It really does make sense to ‘cut the cord’ here, once people figure out how (perhaps shorting out the antenna, but not sure).

It depends, but mostly, yes. But you’ll lose various features and potential inability to patch buggy software. The average lay person could do it in their garage, but with a little research it can be done. You’re better off buying an older vehicle that doesn’t have a software/digital OS and learn how to turn a wrench. Besides, old cars are an investment with ROI, new vehicles are money pits at best.
No and yes. To get the services they are charging extra, o. However heating a seat comes from your alternator, permission comes from them. Just requires a hack to over ride.
Hackers are rubbing their hands in anxious anticipation to dig into this one. The hack app will be posted within a month.
Yes. Disconnect the antenna.
