Picking your Athletes based on their propaganda value is never a good idea, but she is an Anchor Baby whose parents are Chinese nationals. She and should have had to earn her US citizenship just like someone born outside the US to non US parents.
If we go to war with China, we are really going to have the kinds of problems, that required us to put the Japs in the Internment Camps during WWII. But of course, this time, there’s no way you could do it.

I feel sorry for her.
She made her citizenship decision at age 18.
There is no way to know what external pressures or inducements motivated her to do that.
Regardless, very few teenage girls have the political sophistication or life experience to understand the long term consequences of a decision like that.
I know this will be an unpopular view but I could even understand competing for another country in the olympics if your parents were from there and you stood to make a lot of money for doing so......but I would never give up my American citizenship in order to do so.

No sympathy for their having to live their and the utmost pride in the Chinese Americans that are representing the US. We have multiple, including and elite male (very masculine btw) Chen, and a female Chen that has a shot for a medal.
