Like most “refugees” or their offspring, they’re only American when shopping, working, going to school and PLAYING THE RACE CARD.

Zhu decided to compete for China in 2018 and gave up her American citizenship. She also changed her name from Beverly Zhu to Zhu Yi.That's stupid.

Say what? What an idiota!
I guess she will find out just how much "Chinese" she really is.

Aw, poor Benedict Zhu Li. Hated by the country she betrayed, and hated by the country she sold out to.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either opinion, or satire. Or both.)

What’s funny/sad is if this happened to her here, she’d be supported and likely still get sponsorships and good press from the failure-sympathy sector that’s metastisized in America.
She’ll get just the opposite in China.

She probably made that decision for the same reason a mutant man decides to compete against women in sports. She didn’t have a chance in hell of making the U.S. team, so she found a country with an inferior skating program where she’d be one of the best competitors.

Reminds of the stupid Tennis Player who hadn’t even lived in Japan since she was 3.
Not only competed for Japan, but lit the Olympic Flame, then immediately proceeded to bow out early in the competition.

Whose bright idea was this? No doubt her parents or those close to her. Promotion/advertising money can actually be A LOT higher in China than in the USA, especially for a "hot" or trending activity - like winter sports. The half-caucasian, half Chinese 18 year-old snowboarder Gu Ailing (known in her hometown of San Francisco as Eileen Gu) reportedly earned $20 million in endorsements in China, and is competing on the Chinese team. Also, in areas where China is not competitive, like figure skating, this woman Zhu Yi is probably not good enough to make the US Olympic team, but could earn a spot on the Chinese team.
Over the last 40 years, such people have been able to keep a foot in both the USA and China, milking the advantages offered by both sides. But that time is ending, and a time for standing clearly on one side or another will soon be here.
