If, and its a big IF, Russia did want to invade—Kiev would fall in 48 hours. Paratroopers seize the airport, Bring in troops and shoot down the planes. Land battles and they could seize Keiv like they Taliban did Kabul. Do it and seize the President to work up a “Peace” (Also spelled Piece) Treaty.
Meh. They’ll wait until after the Olympics. Their skaters are taking golds and probably other athletes too.

Russia can take Ukraine. They cannot hold it.
It appears Pooty Poot will back down to save his economy from further degradation. They don’t make despotic strongmen like they used to. Even China’s Xi wanted nothing to do with Putin at the Olympic opening ceremony.
Then that means Biden and his cabinet have seriously miscalculated Putin and his intentions, proving what Europe knows now, that the current US leadership is incapable of defending them.
If Russia could convince their ally Belarus to join the game and cross the Ukraine border in force, then Russia could easily take Kyiv - but probably only long enough to install a new government to their liking.
NATO forces will not be involved either way. Putin isn't Hitler, and NATO leadership makes the pre-WWII British and French governments look like titans of democracy.
