I used to hope that Trump would have taken back Oval Office months ago. The problem with that oversimplified thinking is that Trump first needs to finish draining the swamp as a private citizen, free of constitutional checks and balances of Oval Office powers, before going back to office.
After all, what good are his famous business skills if he’s surrounded by a very corrupt deep state that refuses to support his vision for MAGA?
Who knows, maybe three, possibly four mock impeachments by now?
Insights welcome.
Not if you called up ten million militia.
I agree it’s good that he didn’t try to implement martial law. Elections have been contested before, and will be again. The precedent of the disputed states and electors of 1876 is what should have been followed, however it was not, and that is what should be left for debate.
Martial law would have been considered extreme in almost any possible scenario, and thankfully only a few of his supporters were actually calling for it.. As bad as the situation is now, it would be significantly worse had that option been tried, whether Trump held on to power or not.
“ told Trump that their plan would get him impeached”
They tried anyway for any reason without any evidence didn’t they? 🤪
So it looks like at every turn folks were spitballing some unique ideas and Trump made the correct choice to decline each time
Guilliani came onto the scene after Trump was falsely accused of taking an illegal campaign contribution of Stormy Daniels’ “silence” from Michael Cohen. What did Guilliani do? Instead of defending Trump by arguing that Michael Cohen giving money to Stormy Daniels was an independent expenditure & it was impossible for the Trump campaign to take or refuse to take “silence” as a campaign contribution or use it illegally in their campaign, he made Trump look guilty by giving money back to Michael Cohen that Trump never had taken in the first place! Cohen gave money to Stormy Daniels, not to Trump…and the prosecutor’s had twisted both the law and court precedent. Trump giving money to Cohen at such a time that he’d never taken from Cohen in the first place ended up looking like a bribe. Point is, Trump never was seriously considering imposing martial law, even if it were possible to do so….but Guilliani is not the sharpest lawyer in the world. Why didn’t he make a big deal about Cohen being represented by Lanny Davis as his defense attorney when Davis obviously WANTED Cohen to be guilty and never even tried to defend him from false charges and an illegal conspiracy/witch hunt….and was, in fact—part of it!
Since we’re speculating on stupid-ass crap from the Nazis at Business Insider, there’s also the possibility that Trump could have called in a nuclear strike on DC.
Trump managed to rip down the curtain hiding the Great Oz - but Oz cannot be defeated through the political process. So Giuliani’s advice, in their case, was absolutely correct: save yourself, and live to fight another day.
IF Giuliani said this, he’s right. Or he should be.
As it is, I love how they slip adjectives into this: ”outlandish” conspiracy theories.
