I was there a couple of years ago. It was infested by fags and smelly, stoned hippies. It might be your kind of place if you’re into drum circles. I don’t really have a desire to go back.
I have heard it said that Asheville is a haven for homosexuals, transgenders and other odd or different types of people. I live at the other end of NC and don’t know much about the place.
It was a nice place to live in the 70’s.
