Conventional wisdom heading into this year was that Republicans would benefit mightily from the decennial congressional line-drawing process, carving up districts and creating a decidedly friendly national map.
But as states rush to finish their House maps in advance of the rapidly approaching 2022 primary season, a new storyline has emerged: Democrats could well break even or possibly gain an advantage when all of the new lines are finished across the country.

More proof of the Uni-party.
If Dems keep the House this fall, it will likely be the usual story: Republicans playing golf, while Dems play rollerball, in this case with redistricting.
What the Demoncrats are doing in NY is a travesty, but then, again, the NY Demoncrats are a travesty.. their goal, eliminate representation for the taxpayers…
Utterly useless republicans doing NOTHING as usual is ANYONE actually surprised?? Hey Ronna WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU???
They aren't going to redistrict 40 seats to their advantage.
Disagree- the GOP in NY is a travesty. They have had the “bend over and take it” mentality the past 20 years.
Gerrymandering by democrats is okie dokie. Gerrymandering by republicans is a threat to democracy.
Republicans can’t even gerrymander right.
Aaaah. Just what I was hoping to see. A fighter, (too bad there are so many losers here).
Where's it different from what the Republicans are doing in Texas and Florida? It's the way the game is played.
Useless twit
In Michigan as well. They took a big portion of GOP/Conservative areas and put them with Ann Arbor and Up North and UP areas.
This is how the Demonrats keep control of Congress.
Trump was so unpopular in NY that the State Senate went from GOP Control to a Democrat supermajority. If there was just one more Republican state senator, then the 8 GOP Congressional seats could have been preserved. Instead we will lose half of them.
Never underestimate the ability of Democrats to find new ways to cheat.
Texas GOP are a bunch of cowards, they are letting Democrats keep 3 times as many seats as NY Democrats are allowing the Republicans.
It is very different.
Its funny when the GOP redistricts its “fixing elections” when the left manages to “actually pull” it off,its the underdog win of the century lol.
“Where’s it different from what the Republicans are doing in Texas and Florida? It’s the way the game is played.”
What??? In Texas it was all Republicans could do to hold onto the seats they already have in this rapidly purple-ing state, with maybe a chance for ONE pickup in south Texas. Not one damn thing like the “hardball” the Democrats are playing in New York, Illinois, California and several smaller states.
Florida doesn’t even have a plan implemented yet but, according to the Democrat partisans at fivethirtyeight.com the map created by the Republican-controlled Florida Senate “is surprisingly unaggressive”. That’s just one of several maps under consideration but even the best of them (and the “best of them” would get smacked down quickly in court, of course) in no way compare to the Democrat gerrymanders in their big states.
The only 2 states where Republicans even TRIED to push the envelope were Ohio (map has already been “invalidated” in court, and to be replaced by a much more Democrat-friendly map) and North Carolina, which is heading down the same path.
I went over it, it willbcomebout to a 2 to 4 seat HOP gain.
