Good point. I read that Neil Young sold away the rights to his music last year. Pretty pitiful when you think money is more important than your art.
The car explosion thing was hysterical, loved that!
If you’re writing off these two people as no-talent hacks, you’re just wrong. I don’t have an opinion about their choice to de-platform themselves, seems dumb, but their choice. However, Joni Mitchell, who had polio as a child because the Canadian healthcare system was slow to get vaccinations going, is an enormous talent, and Neil Young, whose politics have annoyed me for over 50 years, is still a talented musician.
All good points. Some will remember that it was Michael Jackson who purchased a large chunk of the Beatle’s published song catalogues and for royalty rights.
Fits right in with the tech world they have all agreed to be paid from... and keep any new artists completely out of being paid at all by not reaching the volume of plays to get anything paid. Like the “demonetizing” YouTub has done and de-platforming. When, Bernie Sanders leftist supporter Rogan would have been back in the day— a representative of their largest fan base of loonie Lefties with daddy’s money.
My memory tells me it was in Miami Springs, not Coco Grove though...
Let’s just say, FRiend- knowledge of a lot more about them. And take a moment to listen to Neil Young’s paranoid rambling and single note “singing” whine.
Yeah- paid a lot of salaries to union labor... get it.
Same could be said about “one note samba” Stevie Nicks-— good Lord deliver us. At least Buckingham could play banjo and came up with his guitar style from it on electric. Had to study Chet Atkins to do it— since Chet was an originator.
Let’s try not to argue “taste” which is of course personal, and thus subject to groups of “reviewers” who originate the “stardom”.
Old hippies now trying to censor free speech - you can’t make up this lunacy. Read the recent John Hopkins study - lock downs and masks were “harmful”. This is the second Big Lie, after the stolen election.
It was in the Grove. Steve Goodman played there. Completed the City of New Orleans while down there.... many years ago.
A songwriter whose album Buffett appeared on as “Marvin Gardens” to not violate his own record label. Had a “Ripple” wine t-shirt on.
“Somebody Else’s Troubles”.
Incidentally— study up on the Canadian Socialist artist system, that requires radio airplay to be largely, if not all, of Canadian artists. Said airplay bled over to the US and careers were launched in the larger Northern US market. Canadian Socialism Radio. Controlled media still today, and the royalties gubmint controlled/specially taxed. Our “UK” of the North we apparently are still trying to copy.
Art is changeable and each own’s opinion. Tom Petty’s opinion of Country music was priceless and argued with no-talent FL-GA Line about it. He called it “Bad Rockn’Roll...with a fiddle”.
And mashup crap of the same formulaic tune/lyric structure that rivals rap crap. Petty caught hell for it, and then overdosed on H. Such a destructive industry.
If it's "disinformation" to warn free American citizens to quit trusting government officials who've been consistently wrong or lying about covid for two years ... you might be a Democrat.
These two are teh music world’s version of kneelers.
Quite true— and especially when Rogan hosted two of the World’s major experts on the disease and the inventor and holder of the PATENT rights to the mRNA “vaccine” that he clearly says is NOT a vaccine and could never be.
The greed and lies of the marketers and their pals in government cannot be exposed. This is a huge and deadly scam, and socialist murder by the numbers and gubmint health care that hides the responsible administrators and physicians who pushed it... and are still being well paid, stock, dividends and outright cash to Swiss bank boxes.
“Old hippies now trying to censor free speech - you can’t make up this lunacy”
Great comment and so true. There are quite a few “old hippies and civil rights activists” that still roam the halls of power in DC. Soon, they will be ghosts.
Actually, Youngs’s net worth is closer to 200 Million.
We'd request "Spanish is the Loving Tongue" whenever Vince Martin played. Jimmy would hang out with us in line, and one time (I wasn't there), partied with my friends afterward.
Great memories. I went to HS in Lauderdale...
