The EMP crowd is another group of swamp dwellers looking for a huge handout at taxpayer expense and this kind of over-the-top fearmongering is the tool they are using to extract the payola from the treasury.
A large scale nuclear attack will shut down a lot of the US economy, but that is because it is a large scale nuclear attack and everyone knows our response to that sort of thing would start while the missiles are still incoming, if the counterstrike isn't launched before the other guys missiles have left the ground.
A couple teams of backwoods militants (FBI strike teams) could do it in one night. No need for EMPs.
They don’t have to use nukes you can bet they probably already hacked into the grid and are just waiting to shut it down.
What about a nuclear burst over the United States traced/blamed on the North Koreans, who are in turn a proxy of Russia and China and receive technology and support from both? In that event, I doubt Biden launches on Russia and China, but we’ll be hit with an EMP and screwed.
There would be no counter strike. The foxes are minding the henhouse. Our elections were stolen. Our leaders are open, bought communists.

EMP won’t happen. But cyberattack, maybe coupled with targeted attacks on infrastructure, that could happen.
Remember, a few years ago there was a spate of attacks on substations. Like someone was just testing their tactics.
