Some of that vandalism happened during the riots of 2020.
“Almost every single window had been broken up and down Walnut Street, Chestnut Street,” Katz said.
“We had some people enter the store, got our cash register,” Silver Legends owner Leon Scott said.
Silver Legends, which has been a staple on Walnut Street for more than 17 years, was one of the shops hit. He was forced to install security bars and says business dropped by 30% since 2020.
On Wednesday, the mayor gave his take on why.
“I don’t believe it’s an issue of the crime,” Mayor Jim Kenney said. “I think it’s an issue of people not being back in full from the pandemic at this point.”

Justifying and excusing legally defined criminal behavior.
You get what you vote for. Just 2-3 years ago I would have said “unbelievable”. But we see it all the time now and it’s for all practical purposes in liberal urban areas been normalized. I’m going to stick to my little patch of backwoods North Dakota.
Wow, that virus sure is tricky. I guess it was the virus that broke the windows. I guess it was the virus that stole the cash register. I guess it was the virus that took the merchandise. I guess the bars on the windows and doors are keeping the virus out...
While the shots might not work to keep the virus out of people, I'll bet you a few well placed 9mm shots would keep the "virus" from breaking windows and stealing stuff...
Mayor Jim Kemmey is a typical democrat. It breaking into a store and gobbing it is not a crime issue, we must be talking with a democrat! What the hell do you call it Mayor Kemmey?

See BS.
True to form.
Wonder what city this was in? Could not be bothered to click to find out.
Philadelphia. The City of Brotherly Shove.
The dem mayor believes the underclass should waltz right in and take what is “rightfully” theirs from their “oppressors.” After all, they’ve always been parasites, living off the hard work of others who are then branded “oppressors.”
It is Philadelphia but it could be any city in deep blue America.
I’m still hoping the rest of PA wises up and gives Philadelphia to New Jersey. Maybe the two conservatives left in the city will move to a red county.
If I was a business owner and saw this coming down, among other things, I would get a large, very heavy, antique safe, and fill it up with lead bars painted gold.
On the outside would be a piece of scrap paper saying $1,000,000 gold. Next to it would be an “ownership” document, that only one person who presents this document with their signature on it can claim legal ownership.
Then let back pain, hernia, and gold fever take care of the rest.
I’m here to tell you that the rot is spreading. I live outside of a conservative town where laws are still enforced and criminals who get caught get punished. But it seems as if to a significant part of the population, theft is no longer thought of as ‘wrong’ or a sin. I’m not talking (yet) of smash-and-grab but just ordinary stealing when no one is looking.
More and more stores have bars on windows, security cameras, and higher value items behind the counter. In many cases the stores are local, not national/regional chain stores.
I know that geezers like to think the world is going to hell in a hand basket, but I’m seeing the wheels starting to come off of our civil society.
Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Society” destroyed the black family.
72% born out of wedlock.
It’s taken two full generations to fully bear the bitter fruit of this evil.
Mayor Kenney did a happy dance and sang a retarded little song when a corrupt court approved Killadelphia’s status as a sanctuary city.

They're well enough to riot and loot, but not well enough to work?
“”I don’t believe it’s an issue of the crime,” Mayor Jim Kenney said. “I think it’s an issue of people not being back in full from the pandemic at this point.””
~~While the answer may be complicated~~
Complicated? Try stupid! He ignores facts as well as Psaki does - he’d make a good replacement for her..
“breaking into a store and gobbing it is not a crime issue”
Yup—when the Democrats refuse to correctly identify the issue, it is totally impossible for them to fix it.
“”I’m seeing the wheels starting to come off of our civil society.””
That says it as well as anything else does. There just aren’t words for what we’re seeing!!!
