and yes, nothing stopping it from being in the public sphere where it truly belongs
The problem is I don't believe it will stop at the school libraries. Some of these groups have lists of hundreds of books they want to ban. I find it hard to believe that that's just intended for their local school libraries, rather than public libraries in general. I'm just trying to stop us from going down that slippery slope.
As a small-government libertarian conservative I am done turning a blind eye to authoritarian elements on the right as well as on the left. I am done with posters like DesertRhino who want the librarian to be arrested for peddling books that offend his delicate sensibilities while actual crimes with actual victims go unpunished.
Amen
Amen.
If a 9 year old could go through the camps - or be sold as a slave - a 9 year old in 2022 can damned well learn *EVERY* detail of what they went through. Utter contempt for ‘parents’ who think little precious should be shielded from *any* situation or action that any kid that age actually had to go through. I didn’t realize how many ostensible ‘conservatives’ are willing tp shield (pussify) their kids.
There’s a good reason that the original stories of the brothers Grimm were so horrifying, and there is never an age where kids shouldn’t be exposed to exactly how ghastly the real world is; 10 or 12 is perfectly fine the children of anyone who isn’t a raving dirtbag Nazi sympathizer or virulent white-supremacist to learn about the full detail of what happened to their Jewish or Black counterparts during the darkest times of history. Or any other horror.
