Quark:
Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, Nephew. They’re a wonderful, friendly people, as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people... will become as nasty and as violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You don’t believe me? Look at those faces. Look in their eyes.

One of the best DS9 quotes.

You don’t need any of that.
I can whip segments of a group into fury if given enough control of who gets HOW MUCH and what those who get less perceives is the reason why. It may seem ironic at first blush, but human psychological concepts of “fairness” and “justice” are the number one reason people commit crimes against others. It doesn’t take anything more than someone believing they’ve been wronged.

I blame the media for stoking division in this country, and creating the perception that classes and groups of people should be angry at other groups of people. But inevitably, it’s not the media that’s in control. It’s marxist activists inserted all throughout the media and academia who sow seeds of division every day, and there is no mccarthy to find them. The intelligence, national security, and law enforcement agencies that used to look for threats to the integrity and stability of our nation are mailing it in.
