The US Farmer can outproduce anyone. That is why in the 1930s Dust Bowl years FDR ordered the slaughter and burial of tens of thousands of cattle and hogs, to get the price up.
Starving people without jobs were denied access to the beef.

Grandpa had dairy cows. The NRA men came and dumped the milk, and said he had to stop milking to raise prices.
So... Grandpa bootlegged milk to the local community and town.
Not sure if it is true, but something I think about. He had to smuggle milk to starving children because FDR said so.
