The Florida Building Code is requiring older houses to made hurricane resistant when roofs are replaced.
................
Prior to the rein of Jimmih the Peanut Farmer S. Fl had a pretty strict building code. Built to 135mph sustained winds.
Wiring in metal conduit, no asphalt shingle roofs, wood frame houses so reinforced they were price prohibitive.
Jimmih got the code reduced to increase low price housing.
Romex wiring, asphalt shingle roofs, stick built homes.
There was a 1000sq ft minimum size also.
Jimmih got around that by measuring the Exterior dimensions instead of Interior.

Born and raised in Florida. Helped build two houses. Never saw that.
