Hey, our demented gov here in nevaDUH still has the mask crap in place like his buddies along the entire west coast and New MexiDOH. Coming up on two years now. No mention of when he’ll end it. Guess he fears someone suing one of the casinos if they can prove they picked up the CONvid at one of them. We’ve been using clip on face shields(clip on to our glasses ear pieces) since probably end of April 2020 to circumvent the face diapers. The only places that don’t accept the face shields are the medical offices. And there are some places that pretty much ignore the edict at this point. Signs up but......meh!
I’ve developed a theory. Most medical doctors beyond your GP really don’t care about their patients.
I’m not trying to slander, but I think it is part of our problem if we are ever to return to normal circa 2019. For those fine folks among us here in medicine, I hope not to offend.
Put yourself in their position. In your specialty, you have to discuss serious consequences. Sometimes, your news deflates and depresses your patients. You witness emotions.
Would it not be a convenient benefit to you and your emotional health to have a barrier where you no longer have to see that? No more faking that bedside manner - you can even legitimately shoo them out the door. Virus, you know.
If I were in those shoes, a highly compensated medical professional who rubs elbows with the powerful, I’d be a big supporter of masks on my patients forever too. I’d still be doing the fun part, just not having to deal with the sad part.
Much like school teachers, they like the job but dislike their customers.

The entire reason I have not been perpetually crippled with sniffles for 2 years here in Nevada is because When entering a restaurant, I walk 20 feet to a table with a mask on before taking it off.
Also I have been double protected because for every single visit to any kind of doctor I answer No to the question of whether I have taken a covid test over the last two weeks
