Kyle Rittenhouse won't get his gun back but will get a share of his $2 million bail money
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinil ^ | 1/28/2022 | Bruce Vielmetti

At a short hearing Friday, Judge Bruce Schroeder approved two deals — one, agreed to by Rittenhouse, was to let authorities destroy the rifle; the other was to divvy up the $2 million bail with actor Ricky Schroder and a Texas non-profit organization led by Atlanta lawyer Lin Wood.

Under the agreement, $920,000 will be paid, in trust, to Richards & Dimmer, the Racine law firm that defended Rittenhouse. Another $925,000 will go to #FightBack Foundation. Schroder, who posed with Rittenhouse soon after he was released on bail, gets back $150,000 he contributed.

Rittenhouse was 17 at the time and couldn't legally purchase a firearm. The weapon was evidence at Rittenhouse's trial, and retained as evidence in a separate case against Dominick Black for providing the gun to a minor.

Those charges were dismissed after Black, 20, pleaded no contest earlier this month to a non-criminal citation for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Richards said Black had also expressed interest in claiming the gun, and that Rittenhouse was concerned Black might try to sell it for rumored six-figure offers.

"We didn't think anyone should profit it from it," Richards said.

Authorities returned Rittenhouse's clothing and cellphone to Richards on Wednesday. He said he will mail them to Rittenhouse.

Everyone is talking about the gun, but I find the bail money arrangement to be far more interesting.

Seems clear to me that Kyle Rittenhouse is not beset by monetary greed, but quite a few others are.

The judge denied an 11th-hour attempt by a California-based hedge fund trust to claim the bail money. The trust claims to be the assignee of a litigation financing company that was owed millions of dollars by Rittenhouse's first attorney, John Pierce of Los Angeles, and had obtained judgments against him.

So litigation is now just as much a finance racket as health care is. This country needs to collapse and purge itself of these parasites.

said, "was to let authorities destroy the rifle"

That should cover another AR and a few magazines.

This is what Kyle wanted. He did not want the gun to become some kind of revered relic of the case.

925,000 went to his Law firm for past and future legal fees, so he got quite a bit out of it, including his acquittal.

I think it’s a reminder of a very traumatic event that led to a period of repeated traumas inflicted by prosecutors and media.

And it would be a weirdo magnet. People always bugging him to let them hold it, or sell it or thieves trying to steal it.

I am pretty sure this was decided by his attorneys as a politically correct PR stunt, which I cannot blame them for.

It is not rocket science. Bail money is returned when the party completes the terms.

They don’t make it clear with their wording, but Ricky Schroder got all of his donation returned.

“Ricky Schroder Calls Cops After Kyle Rittenhouse Bail Backlash

The “Silver Spoons” and “NYPD Blue” actor donated $150,000 to help free the teen charged with killing two people during a Wisconsin protest.”

Seems clear to me that Kyle Rittenhouse is not beset by monetary greed, ...

For an 18 year old he is a very level headed young man and has his priorities pretty well sorted out.

Where are you getting $5000? The article says 1 million =>

“Kyle Rittenhouse’s rifle will be dismantled at the state crime lab in April, and he will get to keep nearly $1 million of the crowd-funded bail that was posted to keep him out of jail during his homicide trial last year.”

What is clear, is Kyle does not have much of an ideological base.

He does not understand the issues involved in the ideological war we are in.

He said, for example, that he supports BLM, but not the violence.

I doubt he has any real sense of why people are so polarized about his actions.

He said the trial was a victory for self defense; then he hands those who want us disarmed a symbolic victory by destroying the rifle he used to defend himself.

His head is mostly on straight. I hope he finds a better mentor than his attorneys.

Lin Wood explained all this weeks ago. Bail money by law goes back to whoever paid it. No bail money can be given to Ritten house but money from that foundation can be used to pay legal expenses. Lin Wood had to give Ricky Schroeder his personal guaranty in order to get that $150,000 for Rotten house’s bail.

Who donated the rest?

$2,000,000 is a lot of cheese.

God Bless Ricky for his $150,000.

Who contributed the rest of the $1,850,000 ?
