The headline reminds me of a scene in the movie
The Outpost

When I see the aristocracy fleeing and selling their multi million beach homes,, then I ‘ might’ listen.
It is over folks. My neighbor’s biggest regret is that she may not get her new Omicron shot.
They breathlessly report all that ice flowing down the glacier and into the sea raises sea levels. Ahem, where does it come from, the ice fairy? No, from snow and ice deposits up slope. At the source it is pulling water out of the atmosphere, out of the water cycle. The glacier isn't generating any ice.
Women, children, minorities, LGBQT hardest hit.
That’s a good thing, because any idiots that believe that Florida is about to get flooded will stay away, and sane people will be welcomed. The idiots can move somewhere else, like Maryland, (which has several coastlines).
Fun facts……Excellent!
Yes, it would overflow and probably flood the entire neighborhood.
But what about Evaporation? /s. , for a friend
Yes, level in a glass COULD drop, but it’s not a closed system . Moisture goes into the air in the room. If enough moisture in the air, it rains, somewhere…….this is going too far off nowbyeeee
I hear they’re bringing in a china-sized glacier from titan.

Of course there will be outside factors that can affect the water levels, but in context of the ice displacing water the level won’t change. The water level would also go down if I chipped off some of the ice to make my cocktail. Is it too early in the day to perform that experiment?
Yep. The only glaciers that cause sea level rise are those that break off on land and slide into the ocean.
And I’m oversimplifying this but I’ve also heard that there are places in Antarctica that are so cold that they get very little precipitation. And if global warming cause it to warm up enough, it would get a lot of precipitation in the form of snow. This, over time, would create glaciers. And all of that moisture would come out of the existing system causing sea levels to drop.
Ultimately all I’m saying is that the whole thing is a lot more complicated than most people realize. It’s a little bit like trying to control the system by controlling when a butterfly flaps its wings. And they’re trying to control it by wiping out our economies. It ain’t going to happen voluntarily with a lot of us.
Unfortunately, it seems like EVERYONE wants to move to Florida recently. I swear that every week at least 2-3 people tell me that. And, sadly, I can’t vouch for the sanity of these people.
I am sane, but like it where I am (e.g., a place with all four seasons).
Agreed. I want water front property for a little cost.
Our ice maker went out a couple of years ago and for a short period of f time I used trays to make ice, that was one of my chores as a kid
Every year, the same old story... the lame-stream media is surprised that ice melts in the summer. Funny how the increase in ice 6 months later is not covered in the news.
Most of the ice in Greenland and Antarctica is on land mass, not floating.
God created a self-healing ecosystem. It does change dramatically, and has changed dramatically.
It's five o'clock somewhere!
