BERGEN SUPPORTS CANADIAN TRUCKERS

OTTAWA - The Hon. Candice Bergen, Member of Parliament for Portage-Lisgar and Conservative Deputy Leader issued the following statement on the truck convoy making its way to Ottawa.

“Last week, Justin Trudeau dealt our already crumbling supply chain another blow. Over 26,000 truckers are now unable to transport goods-across the Canada-U.S. border, which will only drive inflation higher than its been in over 30 years.

“Conservatives have been opposed to federally mandated vaccines since Trudeau introduced them; and we oppose the mandatory vaccine on Canadian truckers. These men and women who ship our goods and bring much needed supplies into Canada are essential and have worked tirelessly over the pandemic to keep grocery shelves stocked and supplies moving.

“Hamstringing this essential industry is nothing more than a political move to further divide Canadians. We need a realistic and flexible approach to keeping Canadians saf, and this sweeping mandate won’t do that.

Now more than ever, our economy needs to be reopened, and we need every sector working to recover from the pandemic. I support peaceful demonstrations against these mandates, and our truckers from Portage-Lisgar and across Canada.”

The convoy is OVER 180 MILES long.

A mile is 5280 FEET.

Calculating 300 feet per truck, and 180 mile long convoy-—there are over 3200 trucks in that convoy.

Another convoy is headed westbound, also.

Reports on the convoy indicate that other citizens have joined in their personal vehicles. So, there are other folks joining in their cars, SUVs, Vans, and pickups.
