Given the recent history in Portland, one would have to be really, really stupid, or just ignorant, to have any desire to be part of the law enforcement there. First responders will get ALL of the blame….unless and until everyone that has been in charge is dead or gone.
The two .....
They got up in front of the other 81 officers and made an impassioned speech. “Let’s give the Portland woke people another chance. We don’t have to quit. Did we quit when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? No. C’mon, everybody get behind us.”
No one was there.
you can only hear ‘ah fong goo’ so many times.
I expect recently retired Portland Police Officers are saying a gigantic “PHEW, glad that’s over.”
And now Portland is trying to rehire them? Good luck!
Their best bet is to stay retired and stay low. Remember with Soros DA’s they have no reservation about going back through the past and charging cops for years old cleared incidents. Probably even better yet to take their retirement to a red state for safety.
Gee, return to a police department so they can take all the worst shifts. Can't imagine why they are having problems getting takers for their offer. /s
I would think they would be excited about coming back to beat on some more Trump supporters.
“Obviously we want to have as many people working here as possible” — Sgt. Aaron Schmautz, president of the Portland Police Association.
No, that is not “obvious” at all. In fact, the past three years it’s been obvious that Portland Police, the Portland City Council, and the Mayor DO NOT want people working for the police.
I have friend who is a Sheriff’s deputy in Washington. He’s not in Seattle, but an outlying county. He’s not really ready to retire as his wife is still working, but is anyway. Washington law on LE liability and regulating how he does his job has just gotten to the point that he wants out now rather than risk his future.

Too little, too late.
