They also could have had the Delta version - it’s still around. That’s part of the issue, determining what you’ve got - treat early (for sure with Delta) or not which Omicron doesn’t usually require. Obviously, they did no early treatment which might have resulted in a “milder” case”.

Covid in any form has an extremely variable impact on different people, from asymptomatic to death. I wish our medical authorities had spent more time investigating the reasons for those differences earlier on, apart from the obvious "co-morbidities" factor.
