It could be, for sure, if he invades. But I’m not convinced he’s going to. In fact I’m not even sure I believe the reports on the size of the supposed military buildup on his side of the border. I just don’t have that level of trust in the media.
Even if Russia does have troops there, a border is a logical place for them to be. I’m not defending them I’m just saying it may be over blown. Didn’t the Ukraine Prime Minister or someone call for a cooling of the rhetoric just yesterday?
Meanwhile, speaking of borders, China is flying air missions over Taiwan. Who is a more important trading partner to the US, Ukraine or Taiwan? Aren’t we actually dependent on them for most of the high capacity semiconductors manufactured in the world?
I don’t really want to change the subject to Taiwan, just point out I’m a lot more worried about it, than Ukraine, or even Putin.
I don’t agree with everything that you said, but I agree with the general gist. China is a serious peer adversary, with a more modern military, technology, and a growing economic power.
Russia is a nuisance. They can take Kiev if they wish, but there will be serious economic consequences, which we will all see if they invade. I think he backs down. If he doesn’t, he wins the battle but downsizes the Russian economy.
