Feds target most violent, repeat offenders in fight to slow Twin Cities wave of carjackings
KSTP ^ | January 24 2022 | Eric Rasmussen

When a judge sentenced Krisanne Benjamin to more than eight years in federal prison earlier this month for her role in a string of violent carjackings, it marked an important victory for the U.S Attorney’s Office and the FBI in Minnesota.

In response to a historic spike in carjackings around the Twin Cities in the last two years, federal agents and prosecutors are stepping into an area of violent crime that had mostly been left up to local authorities to solve in the past.

This is just an attempt to make the dems look better. The feds will make a few arrests and then go back to arresting selfie-takers and undocumented capital tourists.

So...taxpayers in other states are subsidizing law enforcement for Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota.

Let these Democrat rat holes pay their own bills.

The whole point of the Defund Police movement is to reduce local financing and replace with fed financing and control. I realize that carjacking involves kidnapping so the FBI can play a role, but do they need to?

Just the other day was a story about two “youths” ages 18 and 19 carjacked 25 cars in 15 cities in 11 days...that’s gotta be some sort of record!

still no answer as to how to carry concealed, so that weapon is accessible while seated and concealed while walking?

Need to be a size 44 to use a shoulder holster and effectively conceal.

Washington DC, Louisville KY, and now Twin Cities are all handing over investigative and policing to the Feds. More cities are doing the same, I believe.

Can you say Federalized Police Force? That is what this soft-on-crime and penalty disaster was made to do: create a Federal police.

We are losing, and have almost lost this country.

Decent, rational people have come to the conclusion that Democrat run urban centers are unlivable.

The federal government has more general power to write Rules and Regulations — which would include laws against even murder as well as car jacking — only among the Territories or federal protectorates not under the Jurisdiction of any State … places like DC or army forts.

“ With BLM as their civilian army”

“Excuse me, sir, I’m with the federal anti car jacking task force. I suspect that someone wants to car jack your car so I’m commandeering it. I’ll have your laptop and box of donuts too if you don’t mind … now!”

I've watched training videos on accessing a weapon while seated in a car.

It's not that easy and people who carry concealed should practice these skills.

Also, the carjacker probably has a weapon pointed at you already, so (IMHO) pulling a weapon while they have the drop on you may get you killed. Better just to take off or run them over if you can.

Prosecutors and agents say they hope the threat of longer federal prison sentences will deter some carjackers

Isn’t car jacking a state crime? Why aren’t car jackers being prosecuted under state statues? Perhaps State AG Keith Ellison and Soros funded prosecutors have a lot to do with why there are no state prosecutions. The same is true with the rioters who burned and looted Minneapolis. A few were prosecuted under federal charges, but none have yet appeared in state courts.

I guess defunding the cops and canonizing Saint George Floyd wasn’t enough.
