And again, this winter just like last, the regular flu has conveniently disappeared.
You can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.
It doesn’t take a lot of mitigation to slow flu down quite a bit. And, flu vaccinations are high for the 2020-21 season, and so far for 2021-22.
My wife’s fairly large, fairly conservative (congregation) church was at 1/2 normal attendance the last 2 Sundays. Just people staying home with Omicron or isolating due to it or suspicion of it is a lot of flu mitigation.
I’m not sure I’d call flu “disappeared”, anyway. Our local docs report some flu going around, and:

Poor practice: CDC does not differentiate between “cases” (positives) and “illnesses” above. I’d be willing to bet actual infections might easily be 10 million by 3/1 if very mild cases and asymptomatic cases were counted.
