Attorney General Jason S. Miyares has fired the university counsels of the University of Virginia and George Mason University: Tim Heaphy at UVa and Brian Walther at GMU.
I have no inside knowledge about why Miyares took these actions, but they are, I believe, best understood as the opening salvos in what will be a long-term effort by Miyares and Governor Glenn Youngkin to change the increasingly totalitarian culture of Virginia’s higher-ed system that stifles free speech and free expression.
In Virginia the governor appoints members of the boards of visitors, but the attorney general appoints the university counsels. BoV members serve on a rotating basis, with only a few seats expiring June 30 at the end of every fiscal year. But university counsels serve at the pleasure of the attorney general, as I understand it, and can be replaced at any time. Miyares has lost no time in acting.

FWIW I would recommend Bacon’s Rebellion as a great source of information for concerned Virginians as well as concerned Americans in general. It’s a daily “Go to” for me.
Good, I love this guy already!
I couldn’t agree more!
Hopefully this is beginning to change in Virginny. Because of decades of Republican cowardice, there is alot of catch up to do.
A Pandemic of Pussies.
Because of what?
Why are you not blaming the evil, toxic, exceedingly corrupt democrats for THEIR actions ?!?
I can’t believe what heavy handed, authoritarian policies thus guy Tim Heaphy implemented. Good Riddance!
Did both of these schools implement vaccine mandates for incoming/continuing students?
I’m pretty sure all Virginia colleges imposed vaccine mandates, that’s pretty much the case everywhere.
Rather than blame, try wrath. The willingness to disembowel them and salt the ground they stand on. Blame is something your mother taught you. Victory in bloodletting was suppose to be taught to you by your father.
Until we find patriots to win a majority the destruction of virtue and life will continue under Democrats and Republicans.
Laws need to be passed to begin ending the practice of discriminating against High School Graduate 1.0.
In the meantime, non-Deep-State governors need to bring discriminating state-run colleges and universities to heel. Perhaps that is part of what the new Virginia governor is up to.
Pretty much because the “evil, toxic, exceedingly corrupt democrats” have been doing exactly what any reasonable, sane person looking at the situation would EXPECT them to do, and none of the reasonable, sane people have stopped them. Until, apparently, now.
Don’t get me wrong, the dems are evil for sure, but just like any, bad behavior that gets rewarded, gets repeated.
I effing relish and love your post. Excellent.
ROFLOL. Really? You fail to see the point of accusing the perps ?!?
Ah, so the reasonable and sane Mother Theresa should have stopped the evil cabal?
Heck, President Trump tried very hard. The evil, corrupt democrats impeached him twice (and did a Muller investigation for 2 years).
So did General Flynn.
So cut the crap about Republicans not fighting back !!!
Be specific on your complaints - we all know that dems run as Republicans and seek to undermine our actions.
I have a problem with RINOS. Apparently, there must be a difference between perhaps a Southern conservative and a Northern conservative, and becomes reflected in a number of Republican space-occupying representatives that get elected that are in fact less liberal than the Democrat running against, but are not conservative at heart.
And we all have a list of RINOS in mind. Perhaps a few names different on each list, but ‘close enough for government work “.
Btw, I’m sure Mother Theresa was a saint (though I’m Lutheran by childhood education, had a great aunt Sister of the Franciscan Poor), but with God’s Grace she did everything with other people’s money. That’s from charity, not taxes.
Added: From north central Florida for 45 working years, just now in Colorado. It’s a different world here, even on the Western Slope.
I don’t disagree that we have fighters on our side of the political fence, but there a some RepubliCANTs we could replace.
Mother Theresa put a lot of ‘sweat equity’ into her efforts.
‘sweat equity’ is most certainly NOT other peoples money !
News flash: A Republican has a problem with Rhino’s…
“ I have a problem with RINOS.”
You don’t say?
Who doesn’t !!!
But that is a huge leap to go from just Rhinos to ‘all Republcians’
