If Putin is serious about regaining Ukraine, my guess is that he would annex eastern part of the country.

The government in Kiev would survive but the country would be much smaller.

USA would launch sanctions against Russia but that's about it. EU won't do anything because Germany depends on Russia for natural gas. They can shut off the pipeline then Germany will freeze in the middle of the winter.

Trump will win easily in 2024. Putin has to decide if that's worth it. Plus the possibility of guerilla warfare in Ukraine.

Anyone that looks at the fine map you posted can come to a conclusion. Putin will go for the region behind/his side of the red line on it.

Or to the Dnieper.

BTW, I think this is not gonna start on land. I think it will start on the sea.
Somebody is going to take a shot.

BTW, have they (NATO Navy) re-established contact with the Black Hole sub?

Why do you believe Trump would oppose a Russian conquest and annexation of Ukraine, at least up to the Dnieper River line?

I don’t.

And not because of RussiaRussiaRussia.

First: Reversing Wilsonian interference in the former empires of Europe and the Middle East is in the national interest of the US.

Second: The leading pro-Ukraine neocons were among the worst NeverTrumpers, and payback’s a bitch.

Third: There is no reason for the US to support and defend Stalin’s annexation to Ukraine of Eastern Poland and Slovakia.
