“And Moscow was part of the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth. Shall we give Moscow back to the Lithuanians? It’s a slippery slope to start with these ideas in Europe where history is so intertwined.”

Hey, I’m just saying that Russia has at least a somewhat sustainable argument in its claim vis-à-vis Ukraine. And, since the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth no longer exists (it ended back in 1795), your comment lacks any merit.

Russia has less of a claim to Crimea than the Crimean Tatars that were deported by Stalin. If we are going to “give” Crimea to anybody it should be them.

The Baltics were part of Russia and the USSR for nearly 75% of the 20th century. Narva, Estonia is 90% ethnic Russian. Don’t think the same Putinist arguments can’t be made there, too.
